Promoting Inclusion and Climate Action Through Fruit Tree Planting with Special Needs Children at Mindililwo Special Primary School

At Jenga Future Initiative, we believe that every individual has a role to play in environmental conservation, regardless of their physical or cognitive abilities. Our team had the pleasure of collaborating with Mindililwo Special Primary School for an inclusive tree planting exercise that brought together learners with disabilities, teachers, and community members in a beautiful act of climate action and empowerment.

The activity began with an interactive sensitization session where learners were taught about the importance of trees in sustaining life, providing oxygen, conserving soil, and enhancing biodiversity. With the aid of visual and tactile learning materials, students engaged enthusiastically and asked thoughtful questions.

We then moved outdoors, where learners took part in digging, planting, and watering tree seedlings. With support from teachers and caregivers, students experienced the joy of contributing directly to environmental restoration. The event not only raised awareness about climate change but also highlighted the capabilities of children with disabilities when given the right support.

In total, over 100 seedlings were planted around the school compound. These trees will serve as living symbols of resilience, inclusion, and hope. Our partnership with Mindililwo Special Primary School underscores our commitment to inclusive climate action that leaves no one behind.

We are grateful to the school’s administration, teachers, parents, and local community for their support and participation in this initiative. Together, we are nurturing not just trees, but a generation that cares for the Earth and for one another.
