Our Story

Building Resilient Communities

We are a Public Benefit Organization established in 2022 to alleviate poverty arising from climate change–related vulnerabilities while strengthening the adaptive capacity of communities in Rift Valley. We are driven by the urgent need to build resilience in the face of increasing climate risks such as floods, landslides, and prolonged droughts, which continue to push communities deeper into poverty.

Over the years, climate change has significantly altered the livelihoods of communities in the Rift Valley. Farmers have lost their lands to erosion, households have been displaced by landslides, and water sources have diminished. This worsening situation inspired the formation of Jenga Future Initiative, by people who grew up within the Rift Valley and directly experienced the devastating impacts of floods and landslides, It was born out of lived realities and a determination to drive locally led solutions with focus on Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM), climate education and forestry.
Our work is anchored on Sustainable Development Goal (SDG 13), Climate Action and UNFCCC’s Global Goal on Adaptation which guide our strategies, ensuring local solutions contribute to global climate resilience goals.
