RESILIENCE THROUGH INNOVATION

Let’s collaborate to restore ecosystems and enhance livelihoods for a sustainable and equitable future.

We are dedicated to empowering youth, Persons with disability, and women in rural areas by enhancing their capacity to innovate and prosper amidst of climate change.

Our Mission

Jenga”, a Swahili word meaning “build,” reflects the vision of our founders, who grew up in marginalized communities where clean water once streamed abundantly from rivers surrounded by lush forests. However, over the years, unsustainable practices like deforestation and poor agricultural methods have degraded the land, destroyed habitats, and disrupted ecosystems. These practices, compounded by the effects of climate change, have left communities vulnerable to landslides, loss of livelihoods, and declining food productivity.

This cycle has deepened poverty and weakened the community’s ability to adapt to a changing climate. Inspired by the childhood experiences Jenga Future Initiative was established to help communities rebuild their relationship with nature, strengthen their resilience, and secure a sustainable future. Jenga Future Initiative works to empower current and future generations to break this cycle and thrive in the face of climate challenges.

Prioritizing the well-being of young people, Women, and persons with disabilities, we work in the North Rift Economic Block (NOREB) Region, Kenya, and based in Iten, Elgeyo Marakwet County.

Our Innovations

Focused on climate education &
climate technology solutions, by
empowering communities with
knowledge and skills for sustainable
climate action.

Aimed at promoting forestry initiatives
and fostering a movement for
sustainable environmental
stewardship.

We incorporate forestry into every component of our projects. Through our initiatives; Forest Whisperers movement, communities are encouraged to live in harmony with nature by embracing peaceful interactions with their environment, such as nature walks and sustainable forestry activities. This connection to nature fosters not only environmental stewardship but also mental well-being and resilience.

We place a strong emphasis on advocacy and policy engagement, ensuring that marginalized voices—especially those of persons with disabilities, women in the rural areas and young people are heard in the decision-making processes. By influencing policy, we seek to create lasting systemic change, ensuring that adaptation strategies become part of national and global conversations on equitable and inclusive development.

We engage our communities to design and implement projects. This collaborative approach ensures that solutions are tailor-made to meet the specific challenges faced by these groups, resulting in more sustainable and impactful interventions.

Rather than merely reacting to existing challenges, we proactively help communities innovate and adjust their methods to meet future dynamics. This ensures that communities have the flexibility and resources to remain resilient and self-sufficient, particularly in the face of climate change and other emerging threats.
